Long’s Park Art & Craft Festival

Check your calendar and see which dates and times work best for you. Then review this overview of fun assignments. We’ll work valiantly to get you your chosen assignment—and, if you want, pair you with friends. Our usual shifts during the show are:

• 9 am to 12 noon

• 12 noon to 3 pm

• 3 pm to 6 pm

We’ll try to work within any special scheduling issues.

You’ll notice that there’s a special place for you in heaven if you agree to help out in three areas.

A Word About Kids.
We welcome the next generation of volunteers to experience Long’s Park. If your child or grandchild, ages 14 and older, wishes to assist you in your volunteer role, please let us know, and we'll find you an appropriate assignment.

Thursday, September 2 Options

Set-Up—Set-up our Information Tents, Raffle Tent and Ticket Gates. Stock them with materials. Fold T-shirts.

Friday, September 3 To Monday, September 6 Daytime Options
Raffle Tent—Sell raffle tickets to guests. Answer questions about the raffle and the artwork on display. Provide security for the raffle items.

Creative Kid’s Corner—Working with PA College of Art & Design staff, help children complete one of several predesigned art projects. (Creativity not required!) Try to keep art supplies stocked and the tent in a moderatly decent order. (This is a Kid’s Corner, remember, so disorder always beckons.)

Retail Sales—Sell water, T-shirts and other commemorative items at our Festival Store and satellite locations around the show.

Ticket Taker—Collect tickets from guests as they enter the show. Direct guests to the mailing list/drawing sign-up tables. Hand out gate catalogs and answer questions.

Ticket Seller—Sell tickets to guests as they enter the show. Direct guests to ticket takers and answer questions.

Exhibitor Information—Answer exhibitor questions. Register exhibitor requests for booth sitters. Assist with the transport of guest purchases to their vehicles. Help locate Festival management. (We call this the “Find Amy” assignment.) We’re known across the country as one of the most exhibitor-friendly shows. This is your chance to help us live up to that reputation.

Guest Information—Answer guest questions: where are nearby restaurants, what there is to do in Lancaster County, how to get there from here, etc. Throw out the welcome mat to our guests.

Booth Sitter/Gate Sitter—Fill in at exhibitor booths while exhibitors take breaks. Staff utility gates to direct patrons to Ticket Gates. May also assist with transporting guests purchases to cars. (NOTE: Booth sitters are not generally needed prior to 11 am.)

Volunteer Check-In—Greet volunteers as they arrive. Give directions to assigned booth locations. Keep volunteer refreshment area stocked and answer questions.

“Runner” (actually Walker or Driver; leave your jogging shorts at home)—Run errands for guests and exhibitors and around the Festival. Assist guests by transporting purchases to their vehicles. Deliver supplies and refreshments to other volunteers or resupply retail sites.

Traffic Cop—As needed, direct vehicles to open spaces in the handicapped parking areas. Give other directions as needed.

Monday, September 6 After 5 pm Option

Tear-Down—Disassemble our Information Tents, Raffle Tent and Ticket Gates, getting unused materials and tables back into storage. Fresh energy for this assignment is earnestly sought by those of us who have spent our weekends at the show.

We hope you can help out again this year. Please email us at info@LongsPark.org. We’ll contact you to learn when you’re available and what you’re interested in doing.
If you have any questions, contact us at (717) 735-8883 or at info@longspark.org.
