Volunteers are the lifeblood of all that happens at Long’s Park! Check your calendar and see which dates and times work best for you. There’s a special place in heaven for those who agree to help us out with the three highlighted assignments. We’ll work vigilantly to get you your chosen volunteer activity—and, if you want, keep you together with friends. Our usual shifts during the show are 9 am to 12 noon, 12 noon to 3 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm, but we’ll work with your schedule. To develop and present the Long’s Park Art & Craft Festival, we need volunteers in the following areas:

Thursday, August 30 Options

Set-up—Set-up tents, tables, and materials in any staffed (non-artist) areas, including the Information Tent, Raffle Tent and Ticket Gates.

Exhibitor Check-In—Welcome artists upon their arrival, distribute information packets, offer light refreshments, answer questions and provide general hospitality.

Friday, August 31 to September 3—Daytime Options

Raffle Tent—Sell raffle tickets to guests, answer questions about the raffle and the artwork on display and provide security for the artwork on display.

Creative Kid’s Corner—In conjunction with PA College of Art & Design staff, supervise children as they complete one of several predesigned art projects, ensure that materials are stocked and keep area looking orderly.

Aqua ‘n Apparel Sales—Sell water, T-Shirts and other commemorative items, suggest sizes and colors and answer questions about our 2007 commemorative design.

Ticket Taker—Collect tickets from guests as they enter the show, direct guests to the mailing list/drawing sign-up, hand out gate programs and answer questions.

Ticket Seller—Sell tickets to guests as they enter the show, direct guests to ticket takers and answer questions.

Exhibitor Information—Provide accurate information to exhibitors in a friendly and courteous manner, process exhibitor requests for booth sitters, assist with the transport of guest purchases and locate Festival management via radio.

Guest Information—Helps our guest with a barrage of information: where they can eat, directions, what is there to do in Lancaster County, etc. Without our guests—there is no show so this is a job for someone who can really throw out the welcome mat.

Booth Sitters/Gate Sitters—Staff exhibitor booths while exhibitors take breaks or direct patrons to proper entry areas from side utility gates. May also assist with transporting guest purchases to cars. (NOTE: Booth sitters are not generally needed prior to 11 am.)

Volunteer Check-In—Greet volunteers as they arrive for their shifts, give directions to assigned locations, answer questions and keep volunteer refreshments stocked.

Runners—Walk, ride or run errands for guests, exhibitors and Festival management, assisting guests with transporting purchases to cars, delivering supplies and refreshments to other volunteers, resupplying Aqua ‘n Apparel sites and, when required, mulching shallow areas.

Directing Cars—Direct visitors to open spaces in the handicapped parking areas and give other directions as needed.

Monday, September 3 —after 5 pm Option

Tear-Down—Disassemble tables and materials in any Foundation-operated areas, including our Information Tents, Raffle Tent and Ticket Gates.
