2007 Emerging Artists of the Year Coming to Longs
Park Summer Music Series August 23, 2009.
LANCASTER, PA -- On Sunday, August 23, 2009, the Longs Park
Amphitheater Foundation will welcome The Infamous Stringdusters
to its amphitheater stage as part of the 47th annual Longs
Park Summer Music Series. The Nashville sextets ground-breaking
blend of bluegrass, rock, country, blues, folk and jazz will begin
at 7:30 pm.
The new vanguard of acoustic music,The Infamous Stringdusters
will arrive in Lancaster with their banjos, dobros, fiddles, basses,
mandolins, guitars, a slew of awards and an ever-expanding roster
of Dusterheads. In 2007, their breakout year,
they were named Emerging Artist of the Year by the International
Bluegrass Music Association. That same year their Fork in
the Road album captured Album of the Year and
its title track captured Song of the Year.
Their rising stardom has earned The Infamous Stringdusters
invitations to perform around the world. Theyve appeared in
acoustic musics biggest festivals, jammed on major stages
with such big names as Sam Bush (a Longs Park performer
in 2005!) and David Grisman, sold out venues and toured Europe.
The Dusters have also been featured in Billboard magazine,
appeared on CMT TV, released four albums and snagged a motion picture
development deal with Lions Gate Entertainment.
The bluegrass-pumping Nashville-based sextet is strong on
all fronts, proclaimed The Tennessean, from sweet-to-searing
vocals, to mind-blowing instrumental capabilities to that good ol,
down-home, aw shucks quality that so many bluegrass groups stab
at but never ultimately achieve.
The six members of The Infamous Stringdusters bring impressive
credentials to the band. Dobro player Andy Hall has toured and/or
recorded with legends like Earl Scruggs, Dolly Parton
and Charlie Daniels. His solo album, Sound of the Slide
Guitar features members of the Dusters. Banjo player
Chris Pandolfi studied with Tony Trischka, recorded a solo album
(The Handoff) and toured with several bands, including
Grammy-nominated, Russian country-bluegrass Bering Strait.
Fiddle player Jeremy Garrett backed Grammy-winning Lee Ann Womack,
performed with several bluegrass artists and released an album with
his father, Glen Garrett, featuring dozens of other top-shelf bluegrass
pickers and singers. Mandolin player Jesse Cobb also performed with
Womack, as well as with Grand Ole Opry member, Mike Snider, and
others. Travis Book, who plays upright bass, anchored Colorados
Broke Mountain, winners of the 2003 Rockygrass band competition,
and performed with jamgrass renowned songwriter, Benny Burle
Galloway. Guitarist Andy Falco, the newest member of the band, recently
toured with Alecia Nugent and The Greencards.
