The Foundation would be responsible for the events that rent the Amphitheater. “Events include: Symphony Orchestra Concerts, public forums and debates, dramatic productions, recitals and lectures, operatic performances, and so on...

The construction of the Amphitheater started. The project is still estimated to cost $65,000. John H. Wickersham Co. was selected contractor. Sertoma took out a $35,000 loan to complete the park. This loan would be paid back by proceeds from the Chicken Barbeque.
September 1961
The Long Park Amphitheater Foundation offered the Lancaster County of Churches for its Easter Sunrise Service.

The cost of the Amphitheater is now estimated to be $90,000. First effort made to ask for contributions from the public to support the entertainment series. Efforts in the past centered on Booster programs and contributions from other sources to include the City of Lancaster. The Foundation also receives funds from the Musician’s Union.
